Rev. Thos. Johnson Residence 2705 E. 35th
From the scrapbook of James M. Anderson, ca. 1917. Residence of Rev. Thos. Johnson, in KC. "House at 2705 East 35th Street. Built in 1853 by Jas. Davenport, tho sold it to Rev. Thos. Johnson, then in charge of Shawnee Mission, and the man after whom Johnson Coutny, Kansas, was named. He moved in with his family in 1857. On January 3rd, 1865, a band of robbers tried to break into the house, but were driven away, shooting through the door, however, mortally wounding Mr. Johnson, who died in a short time. The family afterwards moved back to the Mission. Wm. M. Johnson, who lives a short distance East of the Mission, was at home at the time of the shooting."
