Col. Milton McGee Residence, 1606 Baltimore
From the scrapbook of James M. Anderson, ca. 1917. Large masonry residence of Col. Milton McGee. "Home of Col. Milt. McGee,1606 Baltimore Avenue. Built in 1867, and then the grand show place of Kansas City, He was fond of calling attention th the silver hinges on his doors. He platted McGee's Addition, containing two hundred forty acres; was mayor in 1870; was wreckless, and sporty; arrested one day for fast driving, he appeared next morning with a yolk of oxen hitched to his handsome buggy, driving down Main street, a wide board fastened to horns of oxen, upon which was printed in large letters "Go Slow". The original yard extended to Main Street.
