Vaughan's Diamond Building

"Vaughan's Diamond was built by Major Vaughan, who first put in foundation in 1864, and finished the building in 1868, located at the jucncion of Ninth Street, Main Street, and Delaware Streets. When picture was taken, a bank occupied the first floor, and the balance of building by offices, except the third floor, and it was occupied by Spaulding's College. In 1878 it became the home of the Kansas City Times, Dr. Munford buing its owner and editor. In 1916 it was torn down to make way for the Westgate Hotel, which now stands complete."
