World War One Fliers
Collection of photos of a World War One unit. Both A and B show the unit in uniform posing for a group picture on a flight of stairs. The back of photo B notes these to be "Phililps Soldier Graduating." C shows a group of men around a biplane at March Field, Riverside, California. Shown are the cadets, mechanics, and picture men who would be flying "Over the Rhineland." Taken in October of 1918. A cadet labeled as "Me" in C appears to be in the backrow, second from the left in Photos A and B. The man is only known as Philip, who's "flyingman" or pilot was D. K. Johnson. D shows the same man Phillip at March Field on October 24, 1918, posing by his airplane in full flight gear. Four photos, with some fading and wear, but in good condition.
