Lockheed "Orion"
Lockheed "Orion" was introduced into service in early 1933. This put TWA in a better competitive position for the expanding faster mail schedules. With a retractable landing gear, they could cruise at 205 miles per hour. Three of them based at Pittsburgh and Kansas City flew mail in relays from Newark to Los Angeles along with the Northrop "Alphas" and Consolidated "Fleetster" 20A.
