1827 Log Jackson County Courthouse
From the scrapbook of James M. Anderson, ca. 1917. "First Court House used by Jackson County. Built in 1827, of hewn logs, and used for twenty years by the County, when it was allowed to become in its present condition [at the time this scrapbook was assembled]. In 1916 the City of Independence had it moved to its present location, in the rear of the City Hall, and propose to put it in original condition, and use it as a museum."
