1889 Jackson County Courthouse Annex
1889 Jackson County Courthouse Annex. Street scene in 1911. Distribution wagons of the Big Brothers Sunday Schools with their teamsters and helpers. Streetcar tracks are in the foreground. Three businesses along the 100 block of West Maple Avenue are visible (among them the old Watkins Hotel, Fuch's, and a wall paper business). Inset in photo reads, "Merry Christmas from The Big Brothers Sunday Schools, Distribution Wagons, December 24, 1911." They are lined up on Lexington Avenue in front of the west end of the 1889 Jackson County Courthouse Annex adjacent to the 1887 Jackson County Courthouse. By the time this photograph was taken, the 1887 Courhouse had been remodeled in 1907. Though not visible in this image, there was an "alley" between this Annex and the Jackson County Courthouse, connected by a second-floor, iron bridge.
